          adults with malformed elytra and morpho-
        
        
          logical deformities ranging from aberration
        
        
          of the tarsi to legs reduced to stump-like ap-
        
        
          pendages. For all essential oils, the propor-
        
        
          tion of the pupae trapped in the puparium
        
        
          was less than that of the adultoids, with the
        
        
          exception of
        
        
          L. hybrida,
        
        
          where high doses
        
        
          had the opposite effect (Fig. 1).
        
        
          
            Discussion and Conclusions
          
        
        
          The essential oil vapours of
        
        
          L. hybrida,
        
        
          L. no-
        
        
          bilis
        
        
          ,
        
        
          T. orientalis,
        
        
          C. sinensis
        
        
          and
        
        
          C. limon
        
        
          ex-
        
        
          hibited a strong toxic action against the im-
        
        
          mature stages and adults of
        
        
          T. confusum
        
        
          . The
        
        
          fumigant toxicity of these essential oils de-
        
        
          pended on the insect developmental stage.
